Spring Style Essentials with Nordstrom

There are a few pew pieces that are spring style essentials. Items that are closet must haves and can be mixed and matched with just about anything! Today, I am sharing some of my spring style essentials with Nordstrom!

Outfit – Tank // Cardigan // Linen Joggers // Espadrille Sneakers // Bag

There are a few essential pieces that I make sure my closet has from season to season. With the stay at home order, these essentials look a little different this spring! I’ve been on the hunt for the best basics that can be worn for lounging around the house and out and about.

Nordstrom is always my first stop when it’s time for a wardrobe refresh each season. They have a wide selection of items to choose from and I love finding the seasons best trends and classic closet staples all in one place! Not to mention, they have amazing customer service and their everyday free shipping makes ordering online a breeze.

When it comes to spring staples, there is one piece that is an ABSOLUTE MUST…a lightweight cardigan. I snag a new one every year that I end up wearing on repeat because I find that it goes with everything!

This year, I grabbed this one and I have to say I’m obsessed! It’s the perfect length and weight, making it a great option for layering. It comes in a bunch of color options, but I went with a neutral pick that I know I could pair with most of my closet. It will be easy to dress up or down, but has currently been great for working from home! See all the ways I styled it below!

Comfy shorts and joggers have been another one of my essentials! I am especially loving the linen options because of how easy they are to wear around the house and out the door! This pair is my current fave. They are so lightweight and easy breezy, that I’ve been wearing them to work from home. I can’t wait to wear them in the classroom when I go back to work and think they would be great for travel too!

As it starts to warm up, shorts are a must. I don’t know about you, but lounging around the house in denim shorts really isn’t the best option. I will be opting for soft, flexible options like this pair. They are comfy enough to spend hours at my desk in zoom meetings, but cute enough to make it out of the house! I am also loving the tie and paperbag waist of this pair!

At Home Date Night

Date nights have been looking a little different lately. I look forward to the day we can enjoy dinner out and a movie at the theater, but have been enjoying getting creative at home. Today I am sharing a few of my favorite at home date ideas along with some cute spring fashion picks from Walmart, because it’s a date night at home, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t look cute!

Denim Jacket (also love this one!) // Tie Dye Dress // Sandals

My husband and I have been spending A LOT of time together. We are both now working from home and have separate work spaces. We see each other all day, but that doesn’t necessarily mean we are spending quality time together. Our schedules are now packed with virtual meetings and long to do lists, meaning we don’t always eat lunch at the say time or even “get off work” simultaneously.

It’s been really important for us to maintain our weekly date nights. We make sure to be intentional about carving out time weekly to put down our phones, stop talking about work and enjoy date night. We’ve found ways to get creative during the stay at home order and I’m sharing my 5 favorite at home date nights below!

  • Go on a walk – these have been one of our nightly rituals. It’s a great way to get out of the house for a bit and connect if you’ve been working from home in separate areas of the house all day!
  • Make dinner together – find a recipe you’ve both wanted to make and get cookin! Bonus points if you make it a 3 course meal AND dress up!
  • Game night – pull out one of your favorite games and play a round, or get competitive with a multi-game marathon. We’ve enjoyed playing Uno and Mario Cart!
  • Go on a car picnic – pack a picnic lunch or dinner and go for a drive. Find somewhere to park and eat out of the back of your trunk. You can even invite another couple and practice social distancing by parking across from one another!
  • Go on a drive and grab some takeout – take the scenic route to your favorite restaurant. Bring home your take out and enjoy outside or by candlelight!

This week, we went on a drive and grabbed takeout. It was wonderful to get out for a bit, even if it was just for a car ride! After living in loungewear, I decided to dress up a bit. I opted for something cute, but comfy, which has been my MO lately!

Earlier this month, I ordered some of the cutest new spring items from Walmart! From season to season, Walmart has been one of the first places I look for freshening up my wardrobe! They carry everything from staples to on trend pieces with prices that don’t break the bank! I love that I can score budget friendly options without sacrificing style! I found tons of great pieces that I can wear around the house and out and about later this season!

This slip dress has been one of my favorites and is perfect for at home date night! Comfy and flattering, I love that it feels like I’m wearing pjs, but doesn’t look it! I threw a denim jacket over the top for our car ride and to layer up a bit as we enjoyed our takeout outside. These sandals have been my favorite since last year and I was so excited to see they were restocked! I ended up ordering them in 2 more colors because of how much I wore these last year. They are comfortable and a great neutral sandal that goes with everything! Lately they have been my favorites for running to the mailbox, but last year I wore them EVERYWHERE, from vacation to the classroom!

Check out some of my spring style picks from Walmart below. I found some great options for your at home date night! Have you had your own at home date? I would love to hear!

Forever 21 Spring Haul

Spring has arrived and that means shorts and sandal weather is finally here! Today I am sharing a recent Forever 21 spring haul, filled with the cutest new arrivals. Pieces you can wear for lounging, as you stay home and do your part during this epidemic, and out and about later this season!

Outfit 1 – Knit Tank // Linen Striped Shorts

I have been shopping at Forever 21 for YEARS! It’s one of the first places I go when updating my wardrobe from season to season. I love that they carry the cutest, on trend pieces at prices that don’t break the bank, making it so easy to refresh your wardrobe from season to season.

When I made my seasonal visit to Forever21.com, I looked for pieces I could lounge around in now and wear out and about later this spring and summer. Because I’ve been spending all of my time at home, comfy shorts and knit tanks were the first pieces I added to my cart. I don’t know about you, but I want to feel comfortable, and yet still cute while working from home! Forever 21 has tons of options that fit this category. Items that work for lounging, but can easily be mixed and matched with the rest of your closet when quarantine ends.

These linen shorts are one of my favorite finds, so nice I bought them twice (or in two colors!). They are lightweight and so perfect for working from home. I’ve been wearing them with my favorite graphic tees and slippers, but plan on pairing them with cute knit tanks and espadrilles. This knit tank is a perfect contender. It’s comfy and has a flattering fit, and looks just as cute with loungewear joggers as it does with denim!

Outfit 2 – Maxi Dress

When it heats up, I love wearing dresses around the house! They are comfy and breezy, especially when it is hot! This option is stunning! The vibrant color combo is cheery and instantly brightened my mood when I put it on (don’t you love when that happens?). I can see myself pairing this with a denim jacket and wearing it in classroom when I finally get to go back to work!

Outfit 3 – Striped Knit Tank // Twill White Shorts

I have been wearing these twill shorts so much lately! They are NOT SEE THROUGH, which is hard to find in a great pair of white shorts! I love that they are pull on and high waisted, making them a comfy lounge contender. Clearly I’ve been loving the knit tanks, but this one was hard to pass by! I love the stripes and how lightweight it is. Despite being knit, it is so breezy and perfect for the temp changes ahead!

Outfit 4 – Sheer Top // Cami // Shorts

This gorgeous sheer top is not something I will be wearing around the house, but is a piece I look forward to wearing on a future date night. I fell for the ruffle sleeves and the sheer fabric (I paired it with this cami). It’s a flattering little number that makes me feel like a million bucks and is exactly what I want to wear when I can finally go on a dinner date with my boo!

The shorts I paired with it are another pair that work for working from home! They come in a ton of colors and are so soft and easy to move in. I like the sweet little belt, but would dress them up by swapping it out for a leather option.

Outfit 5 – Ribbed Tank // Striped Linen Shorts

Last but not least, this tank is another favorite find. I love the tighter fit, which gives it that bodysuit look without the inconvenience of a bodysuit. It has the cutest ruffle detailing on the bottom, which can easily be tucked in (as worn here), or left out, making it a versatile option. These shorts are the prettiest shade of coral and are so fun for spring and summer. I love shorts like this for days at the lake!

Spring Shoes with Nordstrom

Get the Look

Sweater // Denim // Sandals // Sunglasses // Bag

The weather has been warming up, and I’ve been living for quick walks through the neighborhood (while practicing social distancing of course) and soaking up the sunshine in my backyard. Current events have given me SO much perspective.

With all the uncertainty in the world, I’ve taken to celebrating the positive. I’m enjoying the little things, like extra time to enjoy my coffee in the morning, mid-day walk breaks with my husband and pup and more time to read. I’ve also been living with the mantra that bright days ARE ahead. While we weather this storm together, remember that sunshine (both figuratively and literally) is headed our way, friends.

I’ve been appreciating the changes a new season brings more than ever before. This could be because I have way too much time on my hands to take it in. One silly little thing I LOVE about this time of year is going sock-less. Yes, I told you, totally silly, but something I usually take for granted. How glorious is it to finally be able to trade out stuffy boots and socks for bare feet and sandals?

I recently picked up some new spring shoes from Nordstrom that I’m so excited about. I’ve actually taken to wearing them around the house and for our short walk breaks through the neighborhood. Nordstrom is always the first place I look when shopping for a new season. They carry the brands I love, have new arrivals daily and free shipping and returns which makes ordering online so easy. I am also extremely impressed with their customer service and how they are handling recent events (read about their efforts here), by closing all physical stores, remaining open online and still providing an amazing customer service experience.

My favorite and most worn pair of sandals for spring and summer are my Tory Burch Miller sandals. I actually ended up snagging a new pair this year because mine were so worn! I’ve never found a more comfortable, practical flip flop that can be dressed up or down and goes with everything!

Check out some more of my recent sandal and spring shoe purchases from Nordstrom below, along with some comfy slipper picks just in case you are looking for something cozy to wear during your time at home!
