My Summer to Fall Collection with Inspired Boutique

Last winter I had the opportunity to create a collection with Inspired Boutique (check out the post here). Because of YOU guys, we decided to do it again! I am so excited to share the launch of my summer to fall collection. This has been a few months in the making and I am thrilled to finally share the LIVE collection with you! All 16 pieces were handpicked by me! I wanted a collection of pieces that transition perfectly from easy breezy summer to crisp fall days and I feel like we did just that! In this collection, you will find a variety of items you can dress up or dress down (including some teacher friendly options). Check out all of the pieces below, including sizing and why they made the cut!

Sunny Side Tie Dye Kimono // $55: I fell in love with the subtle tie dye of this piece and the color! It’s perfect to wear now and right into fall! I styled it like I would for an early fall day, but you could pair it over shorts and a tank, a swimsuit or a mini dress now! I also think it would be so cute for the classroom paired over dark wash denim and a tee! I’m wearing a size small.

Puff Sleeve Ruched Front Ruffle Crop Top // $44: I knew I wanted a cropped white top in my collection, and this one steals the show! From the ruched bodice to the ballon sleeves, it’s a gorgeous piece you can dress up or down! I just paired it with denim and booties, but I envision styling it with a mini skirt this fall! I also love that you can untie the tie to give it a little more length if you want less of a crop fit! I’m wearing a small!

Light & Leopard Tee // $44: If you love animal print, but don’t like to be too over the top, this tee is for you! I love the subtle leopard in the soft neutral grey and white. It has a slightly oversized fit, so you can give it the perfect front tuck or tie it up. It’s super soft and breathable and will be so cute layered with a cardi this fall! I’m wearing a small.

Ivory Fringe Babydoll Dress // $55: This mini dress is one of my favorite pieces of this collection! I love the babydoll fit and the frayed details. It’s lined, so it’s not see through, and super lightweight. Wear it with sandals or sneakers now, and layer it up this fall with a cardigan or denim jacket and boots! I also love the length on this one! It’s a great pick for the classroom! I’m wearing a small!

Indigo Star Sweater // $50: Another piece I was on the hunt for, is fun sweaters. In this collection, you will find a variety of playful sweaters that are great for end of summer days, right into fall! I love the star print and color combo of this one! It’s also SO soft! I’m wearing a size small and while it does have a slightly oversized fit, you could size up one for a sweater perfect to wear with leggings!

Hey Tee // $28: This might be my favorite piece of the entire collection! I think it’s SO cute! I love the colors and the slight cropped fit (not too cropped to wear with hight waisted bottoms). As a first grade teacher, I thought this would be a fun piece for the classroom. You can see how I styled it for the classroom here. This tee is also SUPER SOFT! I’m wearing a small.

Sweetly Striped Sweater // $48: I’ve been loving this shade of blue lately, and think It’s still going to be big this fall! This sweater is oh so soft and has an oversized fit. It’s one of those cozy pieces you want to live in on chilly fall days. There are a million ways to wear this sweater and I think it works for any season! I’m wearing a size small.

Desert Lounge Set // $46: I’ve been lounge obsessed since March, so I knew I needed a cute lounge set in this collection! This set is soft and comfortable and I love that you can easily mix and match the pieces! It’s a soft, thermal fabric that’s perfect for lounging around the house, or running errands! I think I might even pair the top with some dark wash denim for the classroom! I love a good versatile set! I’m wearing a size small.

Blue Me Away Eyelet Dress // $60: I’m absolutely blown away by this dress! It’s a great alternative to much pricier options! From the ruffle sleeves to the eyelet details, this dress is STUNNING! I’m also obsessed with the color! This is another piece that will go right into early fall days! It would also make a great vacation dress! I’m wearing a size small.

Oceanside Sunset Sweater // $52: I usually shy away from bright color combos, but this sweater was too cute to pass up! Made of a chunkier knit, this is one of those pieces that also works for any season. I imagine bringing a little cheer to a really cold fall or winter day by wearing this sweater. Pairing it with shorts and sneakers now, but plan on wearing it with denim and booties when the temps drop. Wearing a small.

Naps and Snacks Tee // $26: This tee is self-explanatory. I mean, who doesn’t love Naps and Snacks??? Wear it out and about with denim and sneakers, or pair it with your favorite joggers while you live up to its statement. I’m wearing a small, and it definitely has a cropped fit. Size up if you want a little more room!

Peace Be Still Tee // $26: This tee spoke to me. I love this verse and feel like it’s a great daily reminder. I love a good graphic tee, but especially one that has a great sentiment. I’m wearing a size small.

Peachy Mornings Sweater // $52: Another chunky oversized sweater, I LOVE the fit of this one! I love that it has that boxy, oversized fit and adore the color combo! It’s made of a thick, chunky knit that will be perfect for fall days, but it’s not too warm to wear now with shorts on a cool summer evening! I’m wearing a small.

Powder Pink Sweater // $48: This sweater is so cute! Perfectly oversized and great for wearing out or lounging! I love the exposed seam detailing and the front pocket! I imagine wearing this with over the knee boots and a hate in the fall, but will stick to cozying up in the a/c on the couch in it for now! Wearing a size small.

Swiss Dot Ivory Top // $40: This top is stunning. I love the subtle polka dot print, the ruffle and the pleated peplum vibe. It’s a piece you can easily dress up for work, but also pair with denim. I’m wearing a size small!

Wonderland White Smocked Dress // $60: This dress is my top pick from this collection! A little white dress is a closet staple, and this one is so precious! There are so many things to love about it, from the ruffle detailing to the sleeveless fit. I will say, taking photos of this dress was practically impossible on a windy day because of the ruffle kept flipping up and I was laughing so hard! This mini is perfect for all of you future brides out there for a bridal shower or honeymoon! I’m wearing a small.

Back to the Classroom with DSW

It’s that time of year…back to school! I get so excited for the start of a new year! Even though 2020 has some new challenges, this year is no different! Whether you are teaching remotely, in the classroom or with a hybrid model, I think it’s important to prepare like you usually would! For me, preparing for a fresh school year includes shopping for some new back to school pieces and most importantly SHOES. Today I am partnering with DSW to share my must have shoes for the classroom!

When it comes to the classroom, I love a good pair of sneakers! As an elementary teacher, I often find myself on the floor, running, dancing and being on my feet for majority of the day. Comfortable shoes are an absolute must, and what is more comfortable than sneakers?

DSW is truly the sneaker headquarters of 2020, with all the best brands and styles for the entire fam! They are my first stop when shopping shoes because they have a huge variety of options with teacher friendly prices. I purchased all three of my all time favorite sneakers from DSW!  These three are on constant rotation because they are comfortable and easy to dress up or down!

  1. Converse High Tops: Converse high tops are a comfortable classic (they’ve passed the true test of comfort too…a full day of Disney). I love pairing these with skirts and dresses and love that they instantly make an outfit more fun.

2. Steve Madden Starling Sneakers: I got these last school year and they quickly became a classroom favorite. The all white goes with everything, but they have a slightly distressed look, so I don’t have to worry about them getting dirty. The flatform style gives a bit of lift and they are extremely breathable and comfortable! They also come with a second pair of neon laces that add a fun pop.

3. Slip on Vans: These are so popular with my students!  A few of them have the same pair and they always ask me when I am going to wear them so we can match. The slip on style is so easy and I don’t have to worry about my laces coming untied! I love that I can pair these with a super simple outfit to bring it all together.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2020: My Top Picks!

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is officially open! Icon status cardholders can start shopping today, Ambassadors on 8/7, Influencers on 8/10 and Insiders on 8/13. This is all before the sale goes public on 8/18! I can’t shop until Friday, but after asking YOU when you will be shopping, it seems like majority will be shopping the anniversary sale next week.

You’re Invited! 2020 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Rundown and Sneak Peek!

The wait is over! The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale preview is officially live and that means the most wonderful time of year…aka the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! I look forward to this sale EVERY year! This year’s sale is a little later in the summer (it typically happens in mid July), but browsing the preview, it’s better than ever! The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is unlike any other sale. Typically, sales feature older merchandise at a marked down price, making room for fresh inventory. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale does the exact opposite, offering NEW fall merchandise at a discounted price. When I say new, I mean the freshest fall styles that have yet to hit stores, meaning you are getting new finds at a sale price.

This is the first year you can preview majority of the sale online! I have already been adding items to my wishlist for easy access when I can start shopping. I’m looking for new fall pieces to add to my wardrobe, especially shoes and denim. I always find great deals on new staples for work too, because we all know one of the best parts of being a teacher is going back to school shopping. There are a lot of great beauty deals that are too good to pass up. It’s also a great time to stock up on fall and winter must haves for the entire family (hello new winter coat at a discount!). Get ahead of your shopping by adding your picks to a wishlist and figuring out your game plan!

 

The sale will start Wednesday, August 19 and runs until Sunday, August 30. However, if you are a Nordy Club member, you can shop the sale starting as early as August 4 during Early Access. Nordy Club members can get up to 15 days (what?!) to shop the sale before it is even open to the public. When you can shop depends on your Nordy Club status. Why does it matter you ask? These items are new and discounted and hot ticket items often sell out before the sale even opens to the public. Shopping starts at 9:30 am ET/6:30 am PT for each status daily.

Obviously you can head to your nearest Nordstrom to shop the sale (make sure to mask up!), but I prefer shopping online from the comfort of my own home! I will be shopping strictly online this year because of distance (I live 3 hours from the nearest Nordstrom) and current events. I feel like the most responsible thing for me this year is to get online, but know everyone has different preferences! Online shopping is easy and with free returns and exchanges the process of finding those must have pieces is effortless! Throughout the sale, I will have posts featuring my sale favorites on the blog! I plan on sharing my top sale picks, shoe favorites, styling tips, teacher faves and more! 1.  SHOP, SHOP, SHOP – This is a huge one and something I always do every year! Hot selling items will go fast (Nordstrom anticipates some being gone within 24 hours!). Order early, try on in the comfort of your own home and keep what you can’t live without. Remember, Nordstrom has free shipping and returns! Because I live almost 3 hours from the nearest Nordstrom, I find that this works best for me! I usually place an order as soon as the sale opens (and will probably place a few more before the end of the sale, if I’m being honest). I plan on trying everything at home to determine what works for me. I typically snag a few items that I am even on the fence about. I can’t tell you HOW MANY TIMES I have debated a purchase only for me to decide I did want it just as it sold out! 2. MAKE A LIST (and check it twice!) – While I firmly believe in buying more and returning what you can live without during the sale, I also think it’s important to not go overboard! I mean do you really need the North Face down parka coat if you live somewhere that rarely gets below 50 degrees? Just because it’s a great deal doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a must buy! I’ve too often been tempted to purchase items I really don’t need, so now I always go in with a shopping list! Write down the items you are looking for and keep your eyes peeled for good deals in those categories! The easiest way to do this online is to create a wishlist or two to make shopping when the sale opens easy peasy.

3. GET FAMILIAR WITH WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE – Spend some time looking over your wardrobe before you shop. Not only does this ensure you don’t walk away with items you already have, but it also helps you find pieces to incorporate into your closet! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve eyed something only to realize I have an almost identical version at home! I have also used this trick to find pieces to style with items already in my closet. One of my favorite things to do is look for fall accessories that I can pair with some of my easy summer dresses. It’s so easy to turn a summer tee dress into a fall appropriate look by pairing it with a cardi, scarf and some boots!
