Staying Cozy At Home and On the Go

Look 2: Sweater Dress // Boots // Bag // Beanie, similar here

My winter break officially starts Friday and I could not be more ready! All I want to do is spend the day in my coziest pjs, wrapped up in a snuggly blanket with a cup of hot cocoa and binge watch Christmas movies on the Hallmark channel. Anybody else feel me? There really is nothing better than being nice and toasty inside when it’s so cold outside! With the holidays looming, the never ending list of errands makes this cozy dream impossible. Leaving my house is inevitable, and while dealing with the frigid temperatures is a given, dressing in comfy cozy pieces makes it more bearable!

When shopping for cozy pieces for around the house AND for going out, I always check the Topshop section at Nordstrom. Not only do they carry the cutest knits and outerwear, but they also have a great selection of cute pj sets and loungewear.

My favorite thing about winter break is spending lazy mornings around the house, before running errands in the afternoon. I love waking up, staying in my pjs and enjoying a cup of coffee while catching up on emails or wrapping presents. Enjoying a lazy morning is not something I get to do during the work week, and I can’t tell you how much I enjoy it! After a lazy morning, I feel refreshed and relaxed and ready to take on the rest of the day! This pj set is one of my current favorites! I love that I can wear it year round and I can’t get enough of the print! Paired with this cozy robe, I am all set for a lazy morning! Both of these pieces would make great Christmas gifts!

When heading out to run errands and get lunch with E (another one of my FAVORITE winter break activities…teachers don’t get to go out to lunch during the work week!), I opt for cozy knits that will keep me warm. While I love layering up, I also love a cute sweater dress. It’s one of my favorite ways to feel comfy and cozy all while feeling cute and put together! This sweater dress is SO warm! It’s made of a thicker knit, so it’s perfect for the winter! Styling tip…pair your sweater dresses with over the knee boots in the winter. It’s a great way to stay warm!

The holiday season is here and with it comes all of the holiday festivities! Unfortunately, the holiday season also means COLD. It’s been freezing outside lately, making getting dressed a little more difficult. I want to look cute and festive, without sacrificing warmth this holiday season! When shopping, I’ve been looking for winter basics with a twist. Pieces that are easy to layer, cozy and warm, but also have a unique touch that makes them stand out! One of my go to’s for basics with a twist is the Topshop brand at Nordstrom! They carry my favorite closet basics, but always put a unique spin on them! I also love their on trend pieces that are easy to wear but still make a statement! One of the reasons I love shopping at Nordstrom, is because they carry the brand I love, like Topshop! It’s always easy to find what I’m looking for!

This Topshop cardigan sweater is a gorgeous shade of green, making it perfect for the holidays! It’s an easy piece to dress up or down, but what really makes it unique is the fun balloon sleeves. This unique spin on a classic style makes for a stand out piece that makes a statement without being too over the top! Pair this over a black mini dress with heeled booties for a party or style it over jeans and a tee for a more laid back affair.

My tee, jeans and booties are other winter basics I’ve added to my wardrobe this season, that each have their own twist on a classic style! I’ve been living in this under $30 twist front tee! It’s the perfect basic for layering, but the twist at the front adds a pretty little detail that I love! This pair of denim is AMAZING. They fit like a glove, are slightly cropped (perfect if you are under 5’4) and are high waisted…a twist on classic denim that I hope is here to stay! It also doesn’t hurt that they are under $100! Last but not least, my new mule booties. Closed at the front and open at the back, this is a shoe I know I will be wearing all year long!

Winter Layers that Don’t Break the Bank

Cardigan (comes in 4 colors – currently on sale for under $40!) // Striped Tee // Denim // Over the Knee Boots, more over the knee options here // Scarf // Rebecca Minkoff Bag

There is no other way to beat the 30 degree temperature than layers, layers, layers! Even though winter isn’t officially here (it doesn’t arrive until December 21st), the chilly winter weather has arrived in full force. I’m living the layered life, piling on all the layers I can get my hands on! Winter layers (chunky knits and soft scarves) can get expensive! Today I’m sharing a few bargain buys that are a must for the chilly months ahead!

This cardigan has been a life saver! This chunky knit cardi adds a layer of cozy goodness to my basic tee and denim. It’s SO warm! I’m all for cardigans that are so thick they can double as a coat. It’s the perfect way to stay warm but still look cute when it’s FREEZING outside! This cutie just happens to be on flash sale today for under $50! It comes in 4 colors and would also make the perfect gift!

This scarf has been one of my go to’s lately! It’s ridiculously soft and I love the size. The color also goes with everything! The best part? It’s under $20! This cozy option is just a fraction of the cost of a much pricier option, but the quality isn’t lost! Buy one for yourself and one for your BFF. This makes a great gift item too!

Last but not least, my FAVORITE over the knee boots. I talk about these so often, but the price is just too good for the quality! Read all about why I love them here! Not only are OTK boots a super cute way to spice up your outfit, but they also add an unexpected layer of warmth! I love wearing mine in the winter!

My Cyber Week sales came in and I’ve been wearing the few pieces I got NON-STOP! One of my favorite sale picks? This plaid top in the most festive shade of red that is perfect for the holidays! I can’t wait to style this cutie multiple ways this holiday season! The best part about it? The subtle sequins sewn throughout that give it an extra touch of holiday charm! This piece is easy to dress up or down and would be great for a holiday party! Style it with a skirt and heels for a more dressed up look! BONUS…It’s currently on sale!!

Another one of my favorite sale purchases? This parka! I’ve had my eye on this one for YEARS and finally decided to purchase over Cyber weekend and I am so glad I did! This coat is so warm and I love the length! It comes in a variety of colors, but I fell in love with this soft grey! This would be a great piece to add to your own holiday wish list! It’s a high quality piece that you will be sure to wear year after year!
