A Black Maxi for Every Season

We are half way through August and fall is just around the corner. Despite the new season being so close, it is still SO hot! Shopping this time of year can be hard because there are tons of cute new fall arrivals, but the temps need to drop a good 40 degrees to wear them! Lately, I have been on the hunt for pieces I can wear now and transition into cooler weather…bonus points if I can also wear it in the classroom!

The past few seasons, I have been perusing the Walmart site and finding the cutest options to update my wardrobe. I love that I can find clothing I feel good in, is flattering, and doesn’t break the bank! Walmart’s newest campaign, We Dress America, aligns with those same sentiments, offering clothing this is on trend, unique, inclusive and affordable.

One of my favorite recent purchases from Walmart is this black maxi. This is the ultimate maxi as it’s super flattering, has a sweet ruffle detailing and a sightly high lo hem line so it’s great for any height! The best part about this dress though? It’s a closet staple that can be worn from season to season.

Outfit 1: Dress // Bag // Sandals

I’ve been wearing this maxi now with sandals. It’s so easy breezy and is one of those pieces that can be thrown on and dressed up or down. It’s great for a day at the lake or a dinner date with the boo.

Outfit 2: Dress // Jacket // Sneakers

Pair this dress with a denim jacket and some sneaks and you’ve got an effortless weekend look. This combo is something I will wear on the weekends or in the classroom on a Friday! On another note, this denim jacket is another great closet staple! I love the wash of this one and the minimal distressing!

Outfit 3: Dress // Cardigan // Belt // Similar Booties // Bag

This is how I plan on wearing this maxi this fall in the classroom! Belted and topped off with a cardigan! This belt is a great, low key way to try out the snake print trend. I then added a cardigan for an extra layer and to dress things up a bit. This one is SO SOFT! Swap a lighter weight cardi out for something heavier as the temps drop.

Looking for a wear everywhere maxi dress?

Something to wear to a summer wedding, a date night or even just for shopping and lunch with friends?

Say hello to this little maxi dress of your summer dreams!

This dress is ridiculously flattering. The cross front top looks good on any body shape, the material is light and airy, perfect for hot summer weather, and it comes in 9 different colors. For under $50, this a great piece to add to your wardrobe this summer! I do recommend sizing down if you are smaller chested as there was a little extra room in the top, but I think getting one size smaller would have easily done the trick!
This color is currently sold out, but check out all of the different color options here.

Orange Maxi Dress

Dress: ‘Goddess Maxi’ c/o A Cut Above Boutique  // Shoes: 6pm (currently on sale for under $50!) // Earrings: Baublebar // Bag: Rebecca Minkoff // Hat: Nordstrom – similar //

 Happy Tuesday!

Anybody else feel ready and refreshed to take on the week after the long weekend? I know I am, especially now that we are in the single digits count down to the last day of school!

Every summer I invest in a few maxi dresses. They are my favorite pieces to dress up or down and I love that I can easily style them for work! One problem I tend to face with maxi’s is the length. Being fairly short (5’3) maxi’s always run long on me…even a great pair of wedges aren’t always an easy fix. A quick easy fix that DOES work though is knotting up the bottom. I love that it gives the dress a little flair and allows me to show off my shoes, all while ensuring I don’t trip over the hemline!

I’m currently OBSESSED with orange (aka be prepared to see it a ton on the blog this summer). There’s something so refreshing and fun about a great piece of orange clothing…it’s so perfect for the summer time! This dress from A Cut Above Boutique is no exception. I love the high neckline and the color is even prettier in person…not to mention it’s under $50! This is definitely a dress I will be living in the next few months!

I can’t believe that it is already mid-August. This summer has flown by and in just a few weeks time I will head back to work. I can’t lie, while I am a summer girl through and through, I am just a little excited to start wearing my favorite fall pieces again! This cargo vest has been one of my staples for a few years now. I got so excited when we had a chillier summer day and I could pull it out. It paired so perfectly over my Mikarose maxi dress! This is definitely an outfit I will be wearing in September to school. It is the perfect teacher-outfit as it is comfy and modest! I am loving a lot of the clothing over at Mikarose for the modesty factor. As a first grade teacher, I need clothes that are easy to move in while still being professional and I am blown away by all of the fantastic options Mikarose has to offer!

This outfit is one I will re-create often and you can too! I’ve linked a bunch of similar military vest options below and check out all of the adorable maxi dress options here!
