This look features a few of my fall essentials! In the cooler months, when I don’t know what to wear, I always gravitate towards a plaid button down and a pair of booties! It’s a fool-proof outfit that can easily be dressed up or down depending on the the bottoms you pair with it! Pair it with some black skinnies and a statement necklace?? Instant chic! Want a more laid-back, casual look? Jeans it is! There really is nothing better than a good, cozy plaid button down!

Today I am sharing a work look with you! This dress from the Sweetest Stitch is the perfect little shift dress! I love the checkered print and that it is button down with a tie at the waist! I wore it to work recently with some comfortable flats and bright earrings to add a pop of color. The thing I love most about this dress is how easily it transitions from the classroom to the weekend, which I will show you later this week!
Although this has been a short week, it has felt much longer. I’m getting back into the swing of things at work, but forget how tired I am after a long day with a room full of first graders! I’m definitely ready for my weekend already!
Today I am introducing you to E and I’s newest family member…Stella! We’ve been wanting a dog for a while, but wanted to wait until we settled in to marriage before starting to look. You know what they say though, things always fall into your lap when you are least expecting it! Stella has quickly become our little baby. She is around 4 months old and a mutt (a little mix of a bunch breeds). She is just about the sweetest thing, but as a puppy, she definitely has her naughty side! She makes up for it though with her sweet cuddles at night…her favorite place to sleep is at the tops of our pillows!

This week’s blogger of the week from last week’s link-up is Susie of Sequins & Strawberries! Susie’s tulip hem dress has the prettiest and color palate! I love that she paired it with a hot pink clutch and cognac shoes! This is definitely a look I wish I could wear lakeside!

School has officially started hence the lack of posts around these parts! It was a busy few days getting my classroom ready, and I spent a lot of hours making sure things were ready to go. All of you teachers know that no matter how much time you spend in the classroom it really is never enough!! Wednesday the 2nd was the official first day, and it was a good one! I forgot how little the first graders are when they start compared to how much they grow by the end of the year! It will take me some time getting back in to the swing of working full time and blogging while I find a balance that works, so thanks ahead of time for being patient with me!
This mixed prints combo was what I wore the first day of school, plus a denim jacket over to top it off as it was a little chillier than expected. Would you believe me if I told you this outfit (top and bottom) was under $25? I headed to Old Navy recently to pick up a few new things for school and this top and skirt immediately jumped out at me! I love easy to wear pieces, and the mixed prints adds a fun element. This top was $11 and the skirt was just $10. These are pieces I can mix into my teaching wardrobe all year long! Head in to Old Navy asap for the labor day sales! I promise you will find a steal of a deal or two!

This week’s blogger of the week from last week’s link up is Amanda Miller of The Miller Affect! Fall is just around the corner, and I have been so drawn to deep reds that Amanda’s little maroon dress totally fits the bill! I can’t get over the lace detailing and deep v-neck. Paired with some leopard pumps and a perfect clutch, Amanda is absolutely killing it! I can’t wait to re-create this look this fall!
