September is halfway over and it’s finally starting to feel like fall around here! I’m finally getting to pull out all of my favorite fall pieces and start laying up for cooler weather. I’m so ready for boots and scarves, chunky knits and oversized sweaters! Recently, I stopped in at Walmart and picked up some pieces to refresh my fall wardrobe. I found so many great fall staple items! Walmart has become one of my go to shopping destinations for on trend pieces that don’t break the bank. I love that I can score budget friendly options without sacrificing style! Check out my fall staple picks from Walmart below and why I consider them staples!
Knit Dress: This dress is definitely a fall wardrobe staple! It’s the perfect piece for layering and it has pockets. This one is long enough for me to wear to work and can be dressed up or down. As it gets colder, I will be pairing this with leggings, turning it into a tunic style top, with tall boots. The best part about this dress is how ridiculously soft it is! It seriously feels like butter! It comes in 8 different colors and I wouldn’t mind adding them all to my closet!
Oatmeal Cardigan: While this cardigan comes in 3 color options, I love the oatmeal option because it goes with everything! This cardigan is the perfect weight for layering and I love the length! It has pockets and the perfect amount of comfy stretch.
Blanket Scarf: Nothing screams fall like a plaid blanket scarf. I am obsessed with the color combo of this one…it’s fall perfection! This scarf is amazing quality, soft and oversized, for just $13. A cute but practical way to add a little warmth and color to your fall outfit.
Booties: A great pair of booties is by far my number one fall staple! These cuties have just the right heel height, are easy to walk in and comfortable! They come in 3 color options, including the cutest leopard print pair that I just added to my cart!
Backpack: This backpack is another favorite fall find! I’ve been loving the backpack bag trend and love how chic this one is! It’s the perfect size for all my necessities, and looks way more expensive than its $22 price tag. I’ve been using this one for the classroom when I don’t have to lug my computer home!
It’s my first official day of the 2019-2020 school year! While I am sad to see summer vacation go, I am so excited to get back in my classroom with a new group of sweet first graders! The task of getting ready for this day though, can be daunting. There is SO much that goes on behind the scenes before the kiddos walk in on that first day of school. From seating arrangements to putting name tags on EVERYTHING, there is a lot that goes in to creating a warm and inviting learning environment. With so much to do, there is one thing I don’t want to have to worry about when the school year starts…school supplies.
After spending WAY too much time hunting down supplies students needed during the day, I created an easy, organization system for my classroom cabinets. While it’s not very pretty, it’s extremely user-friendly, and allows me to quickly grab a pair of scissors or a dry erase marker in the middle of a lesson when a student needs it. I was able to find all the materials I needed at Walmart, along with a bunch of school supplies I needed to stock up for the year. Walmart has become my one stop shop for back to school. Not only can I find the cutest on trend items to update my teacher wardrobe, but I can also pick up the essentials for my classroom ALL within my budget because of Walmart’s Everyday Low Price guarantee.

We are half way through August and fall is just around the corner. Despite the new season being so close, it is still SO hot! Shopping this time of year can be hard because there are tons of cute new fall arrivals, but the temps need to drop a good 40 degrees to wear them! Lately, I have been on the hunt for pieces I can wear now and transition into cooler weather…bonus points if I can also wear it in the classroom!
The past few seasons, I have been perusing the Walmart site and finding the cutest options to update my wardrobe. I love that I can find clothing I feel good in, is flattering, and doesn’t break the bank! Walmart’s newest campaign, We Dress America, aligns with those same sentiments, offering clothing this is on trend, unique, inclusive and affordable.
One of my favorite recent purchases from Walmart is this black maxi. This is the ultimate maxi as it’s super flattering, has a sweet ruffle detailing and a sightly high lo hem line so it’s great for any height! The best part about this dress though? It’s a closet staple that can be worn from season to season.
I’ve been wearing this maxi now with sandals. It’s so easy breezy and is one of those pieces that can be thrown on and dressed up or down. It’s great for a day at the lake or a dinner date with the boo.
Pair this dress with a denim jacket and some sneaks and you’ve got an effortless weekend look. This combo is something I will wear on the weekends or in the classroom on a Friday! On another note, this denim jacket is another great closet staple! I love the wash of this one and the minimal distressing!
This is how I plan on wearing this maxi this fall in the classroom! Belted and topped off with a cardigan! This belt is a great, low key way to try out the snake print trend. I then added a cardigan for an extra layer and to dress things up a bit. This one is SO SOFT! Swap a lighter weight cardi out for something heavier as the temps drop.
I can’t believe that I will be back in the classroom in less than a month! Summer is slowly winding down, and while I am sad to see my favorite time of year come to a close, I crave the routine of the classroom. I also miss my kiddos! I love this time of year because it means back to school shopping. As a kid, I looked forward to buying new clothes for the school year all year long. It was my absolute favorite day of the year as we traveled to the big city (Seattle) and spent the day shopping. When we would get home, we stopped by my grandparents house and I gave them a fashion show of my finds, that were typically all WAY to0 warm to even wear until October.
Fast forward some years, and I still look forward to shopping for back to school, except this time as the teacher! I love finding ways to incorporate the season’s hottest trends into classroom appropriate outfits. I am always on the lookout for pieces that don’t break the bank, because let’s be real, back to school shopping for the teacher means way more than just picking up some snazzy new outfits. It also means outfitting our classroom with supplies that ensure a smooth school year.

I am loving the snake skin print trend and LOVE the fit of this midi skirt! It’s under $20, comes in a ton of color and print options and has a super flattering fit. This is a great way to incorporate the popular animal print trend into your back to school wardrobe. This skirt is a great length and is easy to move in. I paired it with my FAVORITE white tee and a denim jacket that’s under $20 as well. It’s made with a comfy, stretchy fabric so it’s not restricting at all…a necessity in the classroom! This backpack is a steal at under $25 and perfect for carrying the essentials to and from work. This will fit my small makeup bag, wallet and planner!
If you aren’t ready to go all in on the animal print trend, these leopard heeled slides add the perfect print pop. They have a low heel so they are easy to walk in and are comfortable enough to make it through a day on your feet. This little chambray top puts a cute spin on a classic! I love the tiered detailing and how easy this piece will be to transition from season to season. It comes in 4 color options. These black skinnys are a great work pant! They are high waisted and have a very flattering fit. They do run a bit small, I am wearing a 2.
If you love a good leopard print and are ready to go all in on the animal print trend, this dress is for you! This dress is a great length for the classroom. I am only 5’3 and some and would say this dress is almost too long on me, so I belted it to bring it up a bit. This dress has the cutest tunic/babydoll shape and tassel ties. It has a little shift dress liner, so you don’t need to worry about it being see through!
